The Abysmal United States Postal Service

The abysmal USPS.

I have experienced terrible service for years from either the Williamsburg Post Office (11211) or the U.S. Postal Service in general. For years, whether it was mail, which was correctly addressed to me and returned to sender as “undeliverable” or “address not known” or misdelivered mail, mail thrown on the floor of my vestibule and most recently, or mail forwarding orders not being honored.

Several complaints to USPS.com or USPS customer service went unheeded or closed out by the local district office due to my forwarding request not being “premium forwarding” which costs $20 per week.

Most recently, letters/Christmas cards I sent or sent to me either NYC or Long Island New York took two weeks to a month to arrive.

Today, I received two cards in my mailbox from Long Island which were postmarked December 16 and 18.

Unacceptable. The Pony Express was faster.

Meanwhile, it seems as if packages were prioritized. Whether it was first-class postage or higher were prioritized as packages I sent or received arrived within five days.

Additionally, the USPS Twitter customer service page is completely unstaffed.
All I saw over the holidays were excuses by the USPS — which constantly cited COVID-19 as the cause of manpower shortages and “unprecedented delays.”

Way to live up to their slogan.

It is definitely not my father’s post office.

But they were entrusted with voting ballots and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand Of New York feels the USPS should offer banking services…
